Eid al-AdhaEid al-Adha (aka Idul Adha) is one of the two religious holidays celebrated by Muslims each year, also known as the “Feast of the Sacrifice”. One of the observances is to sacrifice an animal and divide its meat into three parts, with 1/3 being kept, 1/3 being given to friends and family, and 1/3 given to the poor and needy.
Riot Pictures of Sacrificial Meat Stampede in Istiqlal Mosque
The distribution of sacrificial meats at Istiqlal mosque on Wednesday triggered a riot. One person was killed in the stampede and some mothers were also injured.
Many children and the elderly were seen to scream loudly when they were wedged between many humans in the middle of the chaotic situation. The situation was uncontrollable and many people were trampled on the ground. A woman was seen to be bleeding among the crowd.
The riots occurred due to an improper queue system. Residents who have waited since the evening were only allowed to enter the mosque around 05.00 AM in the morning.
Comments from Kaskus:
If they lined up properly, then incidents like this won’t happen!
Why did they bring their kids? I’m speechless and confused; should I feel sorry or laugh at the entire incident?
It was mentioned in the news that some people even re-queued after they received their share. They are so unbelievable. GRRR…..
This is so pathetic… They gamble their lives for only a piece of meat.. Who could say that Indonesia is thriving?
This is so crazy… I feel sad that people were willing to do that for the sake of eating meat =(
I think that seniors shouldn’t be allowed to line up. Where the hell were their younger children?
I think most people actually plan to re-sell the meat instead of consuming them… This is so annoying…
This is just a snapshot of their sad life… I feel pity for those kids who were crying during the incident. =(
That was not a sacrificial meat distribution since a human’s life was also sacrificed…
Damn, someone was seen stepping on other people’s heads. Wow…
So sad that many people would do that for 1 kg of meat. =(
This is similar to watching a Michael Jackson concert. Haha.
Is this country really that poor? The people are acting like zombies [over meat] =(
What do you think?
