The Raid Makes It Into The Top 5 Best Films of 2012
According to the poll results, the film starring Iko Uwais even beats big box office blockbuster films such as The Dark Knight Rises in sixth place and The Avengers in eighth place. The Master directed by Paul Thomas Anderson is ranked first.
The Raid which is directed by Gareth Evans also took second place out of 10 Best Foreign Language Films at this year’s UK version of the site – femalefirst.co.uk. The first position in this chart is occupied by The Avengers. “The Raid really introduces Iko Uwais as an action star talent to keep an eye on as his performance in this movie is just fantastic.” wrote the article.
The Female First article also stated that this action film is of high-quality and filled with adrenaline bloody scenes throughout. “Evans has showed with this movie that the action genre is alive.”
Comments from Yahoo Indonesia:
From a fellow martial artist, I totally agree with its portrayal in this film… fight!
Wow, congratulations… hope the Indonesian film industry will be more successful. No wonder the movie The Raid was even released in Amsterdam. Totally cool!
Gareth Evans must have had an incredible impression of Indonesia to want to stay here and resurrect the film industry. It’s a rare feat for an Indonesian director to be this successful.
This is what a movie should be, that’s why it is so successful. As long it’s not those movies who can be classified as porn. Hehe.
The acting is great. However, the plot is pretty bad. There are only action scenes from the start until the end of the movie.
The best by what measures? If it’s the best in term of quality, shouldn’t the movie be awarded with an Oscar… don’t you think?
I agree that The Raid is a good film, but not to the extent of being better than The Dark Knight. This is not about nationalism, but the film quality is still a far cry from the Batman movie.
Too much violence [in the film], which is bad for the young generation.
From an action movie perspective maybe it’s good, but how about from the perspective of story? Totally standard… Therefore, it is hard to believe this movie is in the Top 4 Best Movies of 2012 when all factors are considered. There are other Indonesian films which are better than The Raid.
DREAM, BELIEVE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN :)
A successful film was made in Indonesia, yet some people still choose to throw insults rather than support. These people are so narrow-minded.
Do you think The Raid is amongst the Top 5 best movies of 2012? What was your favorite 2012 movie?
