Indonesia, the Fourth Most Beautiful Country in the World

JAKARTA – Turns out Indonesia is not the most beautiful country in the world many people thought. In a social network survey, Twitter and Pinterest pointed out that Indonesia is only the fourth most beautiful country in the world.

So which country has the most amazing scenery in the world? The users of those two social networks conclude on one country, Latvia, as number one. Mexico and Turkey come in at second and third place above Indonesia.

Yup, although most people tend to say that the sun-drenched tropical country is the most beautiful country in the world, Indonesia is not even in the top three despite having such criteria.

This survey first asked travelers to point at a country’s image they thought was the most beautiful in the world on Pinterest or explain which country was worthy of being called the most beautiful via Twitter. The results were quite surprising.

As quoted from the Daily Mail, so far Latvia has the most votes at 36 percent from Twitter and Pinterest followed by Mexico and Turkey with 11 and 5 percent of the votes while Indonesia occupies the fourth position followed by the United Kingdom and Italy at fifth and sixth positions. Holiday destinations which also made it into the top 10 countries include New Zealand at seventh place; followed by Brazil, India, Canada, and Ireland.

Latvia is a country in Northern Europe with its capital city in Riga. It has land borders with two Baltic countries, Estonia to the north and Lithuania to the south, as well as with Russia and Belarus to the east. Latvia also has maritime borders with Sweden. This country offers tourist destinations such as beaches with blue sea and crystal-like sand. There is also Gauja National Park with its energetic local population.

dpaundra:

Indonesia is at number four?
What criteria was it based on?

Raphz:

It is true that Indonesia’s nature is amazingly beautiful + its human resources are superb. Too bad the government is….

Mousavi:

I doubt it… The people here like to litter even when they’re in tourist areas Littering is already like the culture here

spongesbob:

How come East Timor is not on the list, boss? Raul Lemos’ [the man that was scandalously kissed in public by Krisdayanti, a famous Indonesian singer, around her divorce] country

congratulations .. come:

Isn’t Indonesia #1? In terms of corruption that is.

jojocircus:

Hahaha. One should go travel to other countries to broaden one’s horizon and see what number we are at in terms of our country’s beauty.

ampas51:

Maybe the survey participants haven’t seen Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke..

BombatH: (responding to ampas51)

Yes, boss… [as well as] Raja Ampat, Bunaken, Sempu, etc. etc. etc.

Celso:

The survey was based on photos only.
Of course the first impression about Indonesia from photos is that it’s beautiful.
Perhaps some of the voters have never been to Indonesia before.
If they have already been to Indonesia for quite some time, they’ll know what it’s actually like

byesevenfold:

Ah you’re kidding, right boss? Indonesia at no. 4

DPWM:

But in terms of corruption, where is Indonesia on the list? No. 1 in the world perhaps.

topeko25:

It’s okay if we’re at number 4, but where’s Malaysia??? How come it’s not even on the list?

chandeliers:

Maybe what they meant was Bali [that ranks #4 instead of Indonesia as a whole].

ReeBoot:

Because of God’s grace, Indonesia is supposed to be at no. 1. Because of its people’s behaviour, Indonesia was downgraded. It’s not impossible to not even be in the top 20.

Bombardier:

It’s definitely because of Bali that boosted the polling result

kabei.kabei:

Indonesia is not all about its beauty but Indonesia is also the heaven for corruption and drugs

MisterJon:

I doubt that Indonesia can be at number 4, boss. Just look at its capital city, boss.

heroneverdie:

I am proud of what Indonesia has, except for the government.

gamoholic:

Indonesia is the most beautiful in terms of corruption, boss. It’s the paradise island for the corrupt.

citox:

Maybe the majority of the votes we got were due to Bali, which is the tourist destination for foreigners.

What do you think? What’s the most beautiful country in your opinion and why? Where would you rank Indonesia?
